asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether the Government have under consideration the amalgamation of workhouses in Ireland, either generally or in particular localities; and, whether it is proposed to deal with the matter in the course of the Session?

(who replied) said: The Government have under consideration the amalgamation of Unions in Ireland. They are not, however, able at present to state when they will be in a position to deal with the matter.
