STEVENSON (South Shields)asked the President of the Board of Trade, Whether he has it in contemplation to ask Parliament to give effect to the recommendation of the recent Committee on Pilotage, who reported their opinion that the time had arrived when the exemption of an owner from damage done by his ship when in charge of a pilot, by compulsion of law, should cease to exist?
§ THE PRESIDENT (Sir MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH) (Bristol, W.), in reply, said, that, with reference to the recommendations of the Committee, directions had been given for the preparation of a 236 Bill, which he hoped would be introduced next Session.
