HC Deb 04 December 1888 vol 331 c1020
MR. PICKERSGILL (Bethnal Green, S.W.)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, What is the decision of the Public Prosecutor as to the action of the police in the case of the men Brannaghan and Murphy, against whom a conviction was obtained for burglary and attempted murder?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. STUART-WORTLEY)(who replied) said (Sheffield, Hallam)

The Director of Public Prosecutions has the case of the police still before him, and informs the Secretary of State that he is not yet in a position to state the result. The Secretary of State wishes this opportunity to be taken of bearing testimony to the zeal and intelligence which the Director of Public Prosecutions has displayed in conducting the inquiries with which he was intrusted in this case.
