HC Deb 07 August 1888 vol 329 cc1836-7
MR. WOOTTON ISAACSON (Tower Hamlet's, Stepney)

asked the Secretary to the Treasury, Whether he will make an application to the proprietors of The Times newspaper for the name of the person or persons who communicated to that paper the contents of the Report of the Hyderabad Deccan Committee before the said Report had been officially placed upon the Table, in order that the Government may deal with the offenders?

THE SECRETARY (Mr. JACKSON) (Leeds, N.)

The paragraph in question appeared in other papers as well as The Times, and seems to have emanated from the Press Association. I do not think that it would be for the public interest that the steps which are being taken in the matter should be published.
