HC Deb 26 April 1888 vol 325 c570
COLONEL HAMBRO (Dorset, S.)

asked the Secretary of State for War, What facilities, if any, are afforded to officers of the Yeomanry and Militia to learn flag signalling?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. E. STANHOPE) (Lincolnshire, Horncastle)

As regards the Militia, no facilities are afforded. The regiments are out for so short a time that ordinary drill and musketry exorcise require it all. For officers of Yeomanry and Volunteers it is proposed to form classes at certain stations, where they can be trained in signalling, on condition that the officers attending defray the cost of instruction and equipment.
