HC Deb 26 April 1888 vol 325 c571
MR. HOWELL (Bethnal Green, N.E.)

asked the Postmaster General, When the Regulations under the Savings Bank Act of last Session will be laid upon the Table of the House, and at what date it is proposed that such Regulations shall come into force?

THE POSTMASTER GENERAL Mr. RAIKES) (Cambridge University)

The Regulations as regards savings banks were settled by me, and transmitted to the Treasury on the 27th ultimo. The Regulations as regards investment in Stock and Insurance and Annuity Business have been approved by me and transmitted to the Treasury. Some slight alterations which have been suggested have also been approved, and the Regulations have again been sent to the Treasury. I hope that the three sets of Regulations will shortly be ready for presentation. They must remain on the Table of the House for 40 days before they can come into operation.
