HC Deb 26 April 1888 vol 325 cc600-1
MR. CREMER (Shoreditch, Haggerston)

asked the hon. Member for the Knutsford Division of Cheshire, Whether any steps are being taken by the Metropolitan Board of Works to remove the curve which juts out from the eastern end of the National Gallery into the Charing Cross Road; whether any attempt has been made to secure for that purpose the space of ground which is now surrounded by a hoarding; and, whether any negotiations have taken place with the Government upon the subject; and, if so, what has been the result of such negotiations?

MR. TATTON EGERTON (Cheshire, Knutsford)

The Board's officers are in communication with Her Majesty's Office of Works and Public Buildings with a view to seeing whether an arrangement can be made for improving the thoroughfare between the western end of the National Gallery and St. Martin's Church; but no arrangement has yet been come to.
