HC Deb 02 September 1887 vol 320 c912
MR. CUNNINGHAME GRAHAM (Lanark, N.W.)

asked the Lord Advocate, Whether he is aware that the case of John M'Giveran, assaulted by a policeman at Greenock, was inquired into by the County Fiscals; whether they carry on a private practice under the title of Blair and Cameron; whether that firm represented ex-policeman Innes at the Licensing Court; and, whether the statements of the witnesses can now be obtained?

THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. J. H. A. MACDONALD) (Edinburgh and St. Andrew's Universities)

I answer the first three paragraphs in the affirmative; but I have to repeat what I stated formerly, that the case was one for the Burgh Procurator Fiscal—Mr. Auld—who investigated it at the time, and came to the same conclusion. I cannot supply the hon. Member with the statements of witnesses and precognitions.
