§
Motion made, and Question proposed,
That leave be given to bring in a Bill to amend the Law as to Reports of Proceedings in Courts of Law."—(Mr. Finlay.)
§ MR. CHANCE (Kilkenny, S.)I beg to move that this debate be now adjourned, I do not think the people 1943 who are brought into the Divorce Court should be saved the shame of exposure. The reports in newspapers need not be indecent; but I should be sorry to pre vent a certain amount of publicity being given to the cases brought in the Divorce Court.
§ Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Debate be now adjourned." —(Mr. Chance.)
§ MR. SPEAKERIt is rather irregular to make such a Motion. The hon. Member has not yet seen the Bill.
§ MR. CHANCEThis is rather a thin House in which to challenge a Division, 1944 and therefore I will not press my objection.
§ Motion, by leave, withdrawn.
§ Original Question put, and agreed to.
§ Bill ordered to be brought in by Mr. Finlay, Mr. Egerton Hubbard, Mr. Lockwood, Mr. Samuel Smith, Mr. Bryce, Mr. Robert Reid, and Mr. Asquith.
§ Bill presented, and read the first time. [Bill 204.]
§ House adjourned at Two o'clock till Monday next.
