HC Deb 13 May 1887 vol 314 c1805
SIR THOMAS ESMONDE (Dublin Co., S.)

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether complaints have reached him that the Ceylon Police are open to bribery, and that it is customary for would-be recruits to pay "admission fees" to the Police Superintendents; if the authorities are aware of the corruption of the Force; and, whether any steps will be taken to re-organize the Department?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Sir HENRY HOLLAND) (Hampstead)

No reports of the kind have reached me; but I will make inquiry of the Governor.
