HC Deb 09 May 1887 vol 314 c1275
MR. ESSLEMONT (Aberldeen, E.)

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether, in consideration of the shortness of the Recess at Easter, the Government will consider and inform the House on an early day as to the date and probable duration of the adjournment at Whitsuntide?

THE FIRST LORD (Mr. W. H. SMITH) (Strand, Westminster)

I must remind the hon. Gentleman that we are still at some distance from Whitsuntide; and, in the present state of Public Business, it is not in my power to make the statement which he desires. I hope to be in a position to make a statement next Monday, if in the interval, as I trust, substantial progress may have been made with Public Business.

MR. ESSLEMONT

I will repeat the Question on Monday.
