HC Deb 31 March 1887 vol 313 c66
MR. ANDERSON (Elgin and Nairn)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If the Government will grant the Return as to Convictions by Juries in Ireland which stands on the Paper for Friday?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)

I am afraid I cannot undertake to give the proposed Return, which, if compiled, might be defective and very misleading. Official records for the purpose do not exist.

MR. CHANCE (Kilkenny, S.)

remarked that a complete record of such cases was kept in the Crown Office.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

The hon. Member is mistaken. The particulars asked for in the proposed Return are not officially recorded.
