HC Deb 31 March 1887 vol 313 cc77-8
MR. PICKERSGILL (Bethnal Green, S.W.)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether his attention has been called to the judgment of the Queen's Bench Division, on Saturday last, in the case of "Cook v. The North Metropolitan Tramways Company," which decides that a driver of a tramcar is not entitled to the benefit of the Employers' Liability Act; and whe- ther he will see that the drivers and conductors of tramcars shall be included in the promised Bill amending and renewing the said Act?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)

I have seen the case referred to, and it is my intention to include tramway servants in the Employers' Liability Bill.
