HC Deb 29 March 1887 vol 312 cc1781-2
MR. W. BECKETT (Notts,) Bassetlaw

asked the First Commissioner of Works, Whether he has fulfilled his promise, made in August last, that, before the present Session of Parliament, he would do his best to provide some protection from the weather for Members alighting at and leaving the House; what has prevented the work being done; and, if he will have a plan pre-pared of a suitable glass and iron roof extending across the causeway outside the Star Court, with the view of effecting the much desired object?

THE FIRST COMMISSIONER (Mr. PLUNKET) (Dublin University)

Pro- vision has been made in the Estimates (£300) for a covering in the Star Chamber Court to protect Members from wet when alighting from carriages; and if the House should see fit to vote the money, the work will be taken in hand at the earliest opportunity.
