asked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether Her Majesty's Government have sanctioned, or have raised any objection to, the following passage in the Resolution of the Governor General in Council, on Infant Marriage and Enforced Widowhood, passed in October last— When caste or custom lays down a rule which is of its nature enforceable in the Civil Courts, but is clearly opposed to morality or public policy, the State will decline to enforce it?
