asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, When the Government will afford the House information as to the exact nature of the negotiations now being carried on between Sir H. Drummond Wolff and the Sublime Porto; and, whether he can give an undertaking that no Treaty or Convention on Egyptian Affairs will be concluded with the Porte, or with the Great Powers, until an opportunity shall have been afforded to the House of considering the provisions of such Treaty or Convention?

Her Majesty's Government will communicate to Parliament the exact nature of the negotiations now being carried on between Sir H. Drummond. Wolff and the Sublime Porte as soon as it shall appear that the public interests will be served thereby. The communication to Parliament of any Treaty or Convention concluded with the Porte or with the Great Powers will be made in conformity with Constitutional precedent.
