HC Deb 22 February 1887 vol 311 c291
MR. P. O'BRIEN (Monaghan, N.)

asked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether it is a fact that the senior member of the Madras Covenanted Civil Service has been superseded without his resignation having, in the usual manner, previously appeared in The Gazette; and, whether he is prepared to explain this departure from the usual course?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE (Sir JOHN GORST) (Chatham)

The gentleman alluded to in the Question was not superseded, but resigned his appointment as member of the Madras Council on the 7th of December, 1886. There was no departure from the usual course in his resignation not having appeared in The Gazette.
