HC Deb 22 February 1887 vol 311 c301
MR. WATT (Glasgow, Camlachie)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, If a Report has been made by the Chief Inspector of Factories, with reference to the complaints of alleged breaches of the Truck Acts in Scotland; and, if so, if he has any objections to supply copies to Members upon their application?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. STUART-WORTLEY) (Sheffield, Hallam)

Such a Report has been made; and the Home Secretary is still considering the question of the most convenient method of making known its contents to those hon. Members who are interested in the question.

In reply to Dr. CLARK (Caithness).

MR. STUART-WORTLEY

said: The question of its presentation to Parliament is being considered; but the House is aware that certain legal consequences sometimes attend the publication of matters alleging breaches of the law. A copy was shown to the junior Member for Northampton (Mr. Bradlaugh) by the Home Secretary in fulfilment of a promise given in this House; but I cannot, without Notice, say whether it has been shown to any other hon. Member.
