HC Deb 03 February 1887 vol 310 cc538-40
DR. CAMERON (Glasgow, College)

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether he is in a position to give any information as to the probable date of distribution of the Afghan prize money?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Sir JOHN GORST) (Chatham)

(who replied): I find, on inquiry, that there is no Afghan prize money to be distributed. The captures made at Cabul did not come within the conditions of prize. I may mention that "donation batta" was given to the troops engaged in the Afghan campaigns.
