PICKERSGILL (Bethnal Green, S.W.)asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether a Petition addressed to him in favour of the commutation of the sentence of eight years' penal servitude passed upon Miriam Jones at the late Swansea Assizes was forwarded to the Home Office on the 8th instant, and its receipt ac- 1823 knowledged on the 18th instant; and, if so, whether the Petition has yet been brought to the knowledge of the Secretary of State?
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.), in reply, said, that he had received several Petitions in favour of the commutation of the sentence.
