HC Deb 22 August 1887 vol 319 c1373
MR. T. W. RUSSELL (Tyrone, S.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether there is any foundation for the report in the newspapers that the debate on the Proclamation of the National League will take place on Monday next instead of Thursday next?

THE FIRST LORD (Mr. W. H. SMITH) (Strand, Westminster)

No, Sir.

MR. SEXTON (Belfast, W.)

I wish to ask the Parliamentary Under Secretary for Ireland, whether the Dublin police acted yesterday on instructions from the Government in tearing down placards announcing a public meeting convened by the Lord Mayor of Dublin to express an opinion on the Proclamation of the National League by the Government; and, if so, what were the grounds for the instructions?

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER SECRETARY (Colonel KING-HARMAN) (Kent, Isle of Thanet)

The Irish Office has as yet received no information of the tearing down of any placards.

MR. SEXTON

I will ask the Question to-morrow.
