HC Deb 22 August 1887 vol 319 c1369
MR. E. ROBERTSON (Dundee)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether, having regard to the provisions of the Criminal Law and Procedure (Ireland) Act (section 6, sub-section 3), he will lay before the House the evidence which has satisfied the Lord Lieutenant that the National League— Promotes and incites to acts of violence and intimidation, and interferes with the administration of the law, or such information as will enable the House to decide, in terms of the Statute, whether the Proclamation should continue in force or not?

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER SECRETARY (Colonel KING-HARMAN) (Kent, Isle of Thanet)

(who replied) said: The complete evidence cannot be laid before the House in the form of a Return; but information bearing on the subject can be obtained from the Returns relating to Boycotting and to agrarian crime which are already in possession of the House.
