§ THE PRESIDENT (Mr. RITCHIE) (Tower Hamlets, St. George's)I am aware that the Bill excites much interest in Lancashire; but I think my hon. Friend will also admit that it excites much opposition. To say the least of it, there is a great difference of opinion on the subject. Under these circumstances, if the Government had time to spare there would be very little chance of the Bill passing this Session, and the Government have no time to give for such a purpose. With reference to what will be done in a subsequent Session, I am sure my hon. Friend will understand it is not in my power to make any statement.
