Edinburgh, is a school partly supported by Government grants; whether the assistants and pupil teachers in that school have, and exercise, a discretionary power of inflicting corporal punishment on the children attending the school; and, whether this arrangement is known to, and sanctioned by, the Scottish Education Department?

The discipline in the school is a matter for which the Governors are responsible; and, so far as my Lords are aware, nothing has occurred calling for their interference.
