HC Deb 05 August 1887 vol 318 c1357
MR. NORTON (Kent, Tunbridge)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, If the Government will publish, as soon as possible, the acreage of land now under cultivation for hops, as recently ascertained by the Land Commissioners under the provisions of the Extraordinary Tithe Act of 1886?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)

As the survey and computation of areas is proceeding, but cannot be completed for some time to come, the Land Commissioners are not at present in a position to state the acreage of land under cultivation for hops. I presume there will be no objection to publish the information as soon as it is obtained.
