HC Deb 04 August 1887 vol 318 c1166
MR. PICKERSGILL (Bethnal Green, S.W.)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he can now state what decision has been come to with reference to the alleged misconduct of Police Constable Butler in striking Miss Parton at the Clerkenwell Police Court on the 16th of June; and, whether Constable Butler is still warrant officer at the Clerkenwell Police Court?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)

I am informed by the Commissioner of Police that Police Constable Butler has been reprimanded, cautioned, and removed from further duty at the Clerkenwell Police Court. This police constable is reported as a patient, steady man, with 20 years' service, during 12 of which he has been warrant officer at the police courts, with no report against him, except a case of trivial carelessness 11 years ago.
