HC Deb 04 August 1887 vol 318 c1170
MR. CONYBEARE (Cornwall, Camborne)

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty, Whether he can state the names of the 22 officers junior to Prince Louis of Battenberg, who hold appointments of an almost similar character to his, with the names of the ships to which they have been appointed, and the nature of the service in which they are engaged; whether any, and which of them, have received promotion for special acquirements in gunnery or torpedo work; and, what is the exact date at which Prince Louis of Battenberg became naturalized as a British subject?

THE FIRST LORD (Lord GEORGE HAMILTON) (Middlesex, Ealing)

If the hon. Gentleman will consult The Navy List for August, 1887, he will find all the information he asks for. Prince Louis of Battenberg became naturalized in 1868.

MR. CONYBEARE

May I be permitted to toll the noble Lord that I spent a long time in consulting The Navy List; but apparently The Nosy List differs from an answer the noble Lord gave me the other day, and therefore I put this Question.

LORD GEORGE HAMILTON

My statement is perfectly correct, and if the hon. Gentleman will consult the latest edition of The Navy List—namely, that for the present month, he will find that it is so.
