HC Deb 04 April 1887 vol 313 c355
MR. MURPHY (Dublin, St. Patrick's)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether, before coming to any decision as to closing the Richmond Prison, Dublin, the Government will give the House an opportunity of discussing the question?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)

I am afraid I cannot undertake to provide special facilities for the discussion of this question; but I trust to the ingenuity of the hon. Gentleman to find an opportunity. No doubt he will be able to do so. I have already stated that the consideration of the subject is postponed for the present.

MR. T. M. HEALY (Longford, N.)

Would the right hon. Gentleman be able to say what is the total accommodation in all the Irish gaols?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

If the hon. and learned Gentleman will put clown the Question on the Paper, I will answer it.
