PICKERSGILL (Bethnal Green, S.W.)asked the President of the Local Government Board, Whether he can now state to the House the result of his promised inquiries as to the alleged ill-treatment of the boy Dunn in the Han-well Schools, and also as to the allega- 1258 tion that a system of extensive flogging is in vogue in those schools?
THE PRESIDENT (Mr. RITCHIE) (St. George's) Tower Hamlets,, in reply, said, that the Local Government Board had received a Report from the schools with reference to this matter, and he had considered it necessary to instruct an Inspector to go down and hold an inquiry into the matter, and also into the whole question of punishment in the schools.
