HC Deb 21 September 1886 vol 309 cc1121-2
MR. DE LISLE (Leicestershire, Mid)

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether the Commission to inquire into the complaints made during the last five years by General Lord Wolseley and other Commanding Officers will be empowered to inquire into the whole organization and management of the Ordnance Store Department—that is, of the Department of the Director of Artillery and Stores at the War Office?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. W. H. SMITH) (Strand, Westminster)

I assume that the hon. Member means only the Department of the Director of Artillery and Stores at the War Office. It is not proposed to refer that subject to the Royal Commission, except in so far as questions affecting it may incidentally arise in the course of the inquiry to which the Royal Commission is more particularly directed.
