HC Deb 21 September 1886 vol 309 c1101
MR. GILHOOLY (Cork, W.)

asked the Postmaster General, What steps have been taken to effect Postal communication between Cape Clear and Shorkin Islands and the main land?

THE VICE PEESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (SIR HENRY HOLLAND) (Hampstead)

(who replied) said: The inquiry which has been held into this subject so far shows that no arrangement is practicable for providing postal communication between the places referred to, except at a large expense quite disproportionate to the revenue; but the inquiry into the subject has not yet been completed.
