HC Deb 21 September 1886 vol 309 c1111
MR. T. W. RUSSELL (Tyrone, S.)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether he is now able to give the names of the Commissioners appointed to inquire into the working of the Irish Land Act of 1881 and into the Development of the Resources of Ireland; and, if not, whether he will be able to do so before the close of the Session?

THE CHIEF SECERTARY (SIR MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH) (Bristol, W.)

I am not yet in a position to inform the House of the names of the Royal Commissioners to be appointed to inquire into the Development of the Resources of Ireland, and I doubt whether I shall be able to so before the close of the Session—if the Session closes as early as we anticipate. I can, however, state to the House the names of the Commissioners appointed to inquire into the working of the Land Act, 1881. Earl Cowper will be Chairman, and associated with him will be the Earl of Milltown, Sir James Caird, Judge Neligan, and Mr. George Fottrell.
