HC Deb 20 September 1886 vol 309 c971
SIR RICHARD TEMPLE (Worcester, Evesham)

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether information has reached him that a gold region of extraordinary richness has been discovered near Etheredge, on the Gilbert River, North Queensland?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. E. STANHOPE) (Lincolnshire, Horncastle)

The Etheredge gold field in Queensland has long been known to be extensive; but no official Reports of new discoveries of gold have been received. The field is a long distance from the coast.
