asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, When Her Majesty's Government will appoint a Consul to reside on the River Congo, in order that British interests there may be safeguarded, and that the provisions of the Convention of December 1884, between Her Majesty's Government and that of the Congo State, may be carried out?

The reorganization of the Consular Service on the West Coast of Africa is under consideration. The scheme will include the appointment of a Consul on the Congo.
