HC Deb 08 March 1886 vol 303 c116
MR. W. O'BRIEN(for Mr. T. M. HEALY) (Tyrone, S.)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether, in view of the approaching Poor Law Elections in Ireland, the Local Government Board will give instructions to allow the solicitors of candidates to be present at the scrutiny of votes in order to obviate the expense, delay, and inconvenience of subsequent sworn inquiries into elections, which have become so frequent of late years?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. JOHN MORLEY) (Newcastle-on-Tyne)

I have to say, in reply to this Question, that I am in communication with the Local Government Board on the matter.
