§ THE FIEST LORD (Mr. W. E. GLADSTONE), in reply, said, he had not abandoned the idea referred to in the Question of his hon. Friend; but he must take a week or two to consider whether they could carry out their intention during the present Session, having regard to the number of important Select Committees which either had been or were about to be appointed. Such a Committee, whenever it was appointed, should be of the strongest character.
