BUCHANAN (Edinburgh, W.)asked the Secretary to the Board of Trade, Whether the attention of the Board of Trade has been called to an accident that took place on the 7th of June on the North British Railway, near Sunnyside Station, whereby the driver of the train was fatally injured; 1714 whether the bridge at which the accident took place is constructed in conformity with the Regulations of the Board of Trade; whether it is the fact that previous accidents have occurred at the same place; and, whether an inquiry will be made into the case?
§ THE SECRETARY TO THE BOARD (Mr. C. T. D. ACLAND) (Cornwall, Launceston)No report has yet been received from the Company of the accident to which the hon. Member alludes. The Board of Trade are not aware that previous accidents have occurred at the place mentioned; but they will communicate with the Company, and, if necessary, direct an inquiry to be held.
