M'DONALD (Ross and Cromarty)asked the Lord Advocate, Whether the two lay Crofter Commissioners are to give their whole time to the work of the Commission, or whether they are to be allowed to carry on their businesses of large farmer and factor, respectively, while in the receipt of £800 a-year as Commissioners?
THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. J. B. BALFOUR)&c.) (Clackmannan,said, it was intended that the two lay Crofter Commissioners should give their whole time to the work of the Commission, and consequently they would have to make such arrangements with respect to the conduct of any separate business in which they might now be engaged as would enable them to give their time accordingly.
