§ DR. TANNER (Cork Co., Mid)asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether numbers of poor people in the Inchigeelagh Dispensary District of the Macroom Union have to perform journeys of forty miles to obtain medical relief; and, if true, whether the Local Government Board for Ireland will compel Dr. Barrett (the 1123 medical officer of health) to attend one day in each week at Ballingeary, and thereby obviate the necessity of such long distances being performed by the poor of the district?
§ THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. JOHN MORLEY) (Newcastle-on-Tyne), in reply, said, that the committee who considered this case thought the existing arrangements fairly adequate. The Local Government Board had instructed one of their Medical Inspectors to visit the district and report on the question raised.
