NORTHCOTE)Attention has been called to certain disgraceful transactions which took place at Belfast Barracks during the New Year festivities of a Highland battalion. The sergeant who maltreated a girl has been remitted for trial by the Civil power. The assailants of the soldier who lost his life have not yet been identified. A military investigation by the Staff officers sent specially from Dublin has taken place, and the matter is still engaging the most serious attention of the military authorities.
