said, he wished to make an explanation. He understood that certain words of his at a poli- 607 tical meeting in the country had given offence to the hon. Member for Northampton. He desired to withdraw the words, and to express his regret to the hon. Member and the House for having used them.

said, he need hardly observe that he accepted the withdrawal of the words in the spirit in which it was made.
