HC Deb 23 August 1886 vol 308 c276
MR. SHEEHY (Galway, S.)

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether it is the duty of the Constabulary to give assistance to sheriffs' officers; and, whether the Chief Secretary has seen the report of the evictions at Woodford?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Sir MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH) (Bristol. W.)

, in reply, said, he had only received Notice of this Question since he came into the House. He had not seen the Report to which it referred. It was the duty of the Constabulary to give every assistance to Sheriffs' officers in the execution of the law. What precise steps were taken in this case he did not know. If the hon. Gentleman wished further information, and would put the Question on the Paper, he would endeavour to answer it.

MR. SHEEHY

said, he would repeat the Question on Thursday.
