SIR JULIAN GOLDSMID (St. Pancras, N.)

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether his attention has been called to a petition from the Civil Service Writers, which was presented to the Treasury about twelve months ago, and upon which a Departmental Committee was appointed to report; and, whether he can inform the House when that Report will be made, and when a determination may be arrived at upon a claim which was stated by the last Secretary to the Treasury to be a good one?

THE SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. JACKSON) (Leeds, N.)
