HC Deb 12 April 1886 vol 304 cc1302-3
MR. T. M. HEALY (Londonderry, S.)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Is it the fact that District Inspector Dunne, Royal Irish Constabulary, of Monaghan, a Catholic officer, who has given complete satisfaction to all parties in the town, has been ordered to Bailieboro, in order that he may be replaced by an Episcopalian; is the Inspector of the latter persuasion; and, what is the reason of the change?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. JOHN MORLEY) (Newcastle-on-Tyne)

In accordance with the requirements of the Public Service, District Inspector Dunne was about to be transferred from. Monaghan to Bailieboro'; but arrangements had already been made by which he would be replaced by an officer of the same religion as himself.
