HC Deb 15 May 1885 vol 298 c621
SIR HENRY HOLLAND

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether, before the stage of Committee upon the Federal Council of Australasia Bill, he will present to the House a Paper showing what Agents General were present at the interview between Lord Derby and the Agents General of the Australian Colonies on 30th April last, and what Amendments, were discussed and agreed upon?

MR. EVELYN ASHLEY

There is no record of the interview between the Agents General and the Secretary of State, and I cannot, therefore, lay a Paper on the Table; but for the information of my hon. Friend I may say that there were present the Agents General of New South Wales, Victoria, New Zealand, Queensland, and South Australia; that he can see what Amendments were under discussion by comparing the draft Bill in Command Paper 0. 4,266 with the Bill as it lies on the Table of the House; and that all the Amendments which have been embodied in the Bill were agreed to by the Agents General, except in the case of Clause 31, no doubt a very important Amendment.
