HC Deb 05 May 1885 vol 297 c1647
MR. PULESTON

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether Her Majesty's Government propose to give official recognition, as in the case of the Australian Colonies, to the conspicuous loyalty of the Native Princes and Chiefs in India who have offered men and money to the Indian Government for the protection of the Country against Foreign aggression?

MR. GLADSTONE

I have made inquiries of my noble Friend the Secretary of State, and I understand that he has, by command of the Queen, desired the Viceroy to convey to the Native Princes and Chiefs of India Her Majesty's warm impression of their friendly and loyal conduct.
