§ MR. JOHN O'CONNOR (for Mr. O'SULLIVAN)asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, If he is aware that the building of labourers cottages under the Labourers (Ireland) Act has been greatly retarded throughout the Country owing to the difficulty which exists in getting 671 the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland to forward the first instalment of the loans to the different Boards of Guardians; and, whether he will take any steps to compel those Commissioners to comply with the terms of the Labourers (Ireland) Act without causing any unnecessary delay?
§ MR. HIBBERTThe first instalment of these loans cannot be issued until the mortgages are complete, and the legal procedure necessary takes some time. The form of mortgage deed having now been settled, there will be no unavoidable delay on the part of the Board of Works. The hon. Member may not be aware that a separate deed is requisite for each electoral division.
