HC Deb 16 March 1885 vol 295 c1242
MR. H. S. NOETHCOTE

asked the President of the Board of Trade, If he can take any steps to bring to an early conclusion the process of liquidation of the affairs of the West of England Bank, the proceedings in whose case have now been pending for several years?

MR. CHAMBERLAIN,

in reply, said, that the provisions of the Bankruptcy Act of 1888 did not apply to the liquidation of Companies, and that the Department of the Board of Trade had no knowledge of, neither had they the power to interfere in, the matter.
