HC Deb 12 March 1885 vol 295 cc892-3
MR. HEALY

asked for an assurance from the Government that the Vote on Account would not be pressed forward that night, as it had been circulated only that morning?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. CHILDERS)

said, it was impossible to postpone the Vote on Account. The Monday and Thursday of next week must be devoted to the Army and Navy Estimates.

In reply to Mr. W. H. SMITH,

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. CHILDERS)

said, it was proposed to take the Supplemental Navy Estimates on Monday, and the Army Supplemental Estimates on Thursday.

MR. GORST

said, that under that arrangement there would be only one night for the discussion of the Navy Estimates.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. CHILDERS)

replied, that it was necessary to take the first Vote in each branch next week.
