HC Deb 09 March 1885 vol 295 cc439-40
MR. ARTHUR O'CONNOR

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether any experiments have been made in Cavalry Barracks in England or in Ireland for the purpose of testing the suitableness of peat-moss litter for horses; and, if so, whether the reports on such experiments are satisfactory?

THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

Experiments have been made with peatmoss litter at various stations in Cavalry and other stables. The result has not been such as to lead to its adoption in this country.

MR. ARTHUR O'CONNOR

asked, whether Irish or German moss was used?

THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

was understood to say that he did not know.
